How are hydropower projects allotted to developers? Projects are allotted through competitive bidding or nomination as per the state's Hydropower Policy. Developers sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government.
What benefits does the state receive from hydropower projects? The state receives upfront premium payments, free power (typically 12–15% of generation), equity participation in large projects, employment for local residents, and infrastructure development.
