Important: The Department of Hydropower Development does not have a Director position. Instead, the department is organized around five Chief Engineers, each managing specific river basins. This structure ensures focused basin-wise development and specialized attention to diverse geographic regions.

1. Chief Engineer - Planning, Design & Coordination

Why No Director Position?

The decision to have Chief Engineers instead of a Director reflects:

1. Specialized Basin Management: Each basin requires dedicated technical expertise and focused attention

2. Decentralized Operations: Basin-wise Chief Engineers enable closer monitoring and faster decision-making

3. Geographic Diversity: Arunachal Pradesh's vast geography (83,743 sq km) requires multiple operational centers

4. Technical Complexity: Hydropower projects demand specialized engineering oversight at basin level

5. Stakeholder Proximity: Basin-based leadership maintains closer contact with local communities and developers
